EDWARD ALBEE’S THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA IS COMING TO SINGAPORE FEB 2018

Open Casting Call – Audition Notice!

We are holding auditions for the upcoming production of Edward Albee’s The Goat, or Who is Sylvia, debut. This Tony Award winning play will be directed by LAMDA veteran Nicholas Kenny, and will be its debut in Singapore (subject to rights and final IMDA approval).

Last on at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket, with Damien Lewis and Sophie Okenedo, it was directed by Ian Rickson, to five star reviews.

Synopsis: Martinan award-winning architect at the peak of his fame, loving husband to his wife, Stevie, and father to gay son, Billy, is distracted, clearly haunted as any Sophoclean hero. He confesses to his friend, Ross, the source of his anxiety: he has fallen in love, spiritually and physically, with a goat. Shocking, ludicrous and tragic, Albee’s play is far from being a sensualist piece about bestiality and more seriously, an exploration of the uncontrollable nature of human sexuality and the destruction it can bring to families. Sensitive, funny, sometimes shocking, but in the end heart-breaking, it’s an important piece of writing about the terrifying solitude that comes from being a sexual outlaw in a society where love has strict parameters.
