11th – 14th October at the KC Arts Centre

The Stage Club is pleased to present the wickedly dark comedy, “Absurd Person Singular”.

A perfect cocktail of bleak truths and wild hilarity – “Absurd Person Singular” walks a fine line between farce and tragedy.  It’s 1970s English suburbia and the only thing Sidney Hopcroft wants for Christmas is to climb the social ladder. When he and his cleaning-obsessed wife Jane hold a drinks party, hoping to impress their high-powered acquaintances, havoc ensues. It’s nothing however compared to what happens at the next two Christmases when their hospitality is returned.

Watch as three couples attempt to deal with their social standing, creaky marriages and the pressures of three Christmas parties. As events spin out of control the play culminates in an uproarious ending.

Alan Ayckbourn’s plays have won numerous awards, including seven London Evening Standard Awards and a Tony Award. Staged numerous times on Broadway and in the West End, the play’s wonderfully observed characters have attracted top shelf talent.  This production, directed by Jacqueline Elfick, features a cracker of a cast.  With snobbery, adultery and greed in spades this promises to be a rollicking night out.
